We have four senior boats on the men’s side that compete in the annual May Bumps - the biggest on Cam race of the year. We have a huge range of abilities with novice rowers who learned to row with us to senior rowers who return from the university crews (CUBC) in the summer term.

We are consistently one of the most successful college teams in Cambridge winning the Mays ‘headship’ as the best college crew in 2016, 2017. 2018, 2024 and 2025! We have never fallen outside the top three crews in May bumps since 2013.

Besides bumps we race in various regattas and head races both on and off the Cam.
Most notably are our annual appearance at HORR and Metropolitan Regatta.

See below for more details but for any further questions and inquires please speak to the Men’s Captains…

BUMPS

Lent and May bumps are the most important and prestigious inter-collegiate sporting competitions at Cambridge where crews race chasing each other in single file along the Cam. May bumps is the most prominent with university ‘blue’ rowers returning to the college boatclubs in Easter term. The aim of the race is to ‘bump’ the boat ahead of you before you get hit from behind.

In 2025 we secured 1st position or ‘Headship’ both in May bumps and Lent bumps. We have held the Lents headship for seven of the last eight years and consecutively since 2020. It is tradition for the May’s headship crew to jump over a burning boat to celebrate their victory (see below).

M2 is the highest placed second boat amongst all colleges in both Lent and May bumps and the only M2 in Division 1 of May bumps.

The annual ‘Redboy Boat’ consisting of the college rugby team are always a joy to watch as they swap scrum caps for rowing blades in the Easter term.

OFF CAM RACING

In 2025 we were undefeated in our ‘on Cam’ races in Cambridge during Lent and Easter term but we set our sights on bigger goals. We are in a minority of college clubs that compete outside of Cambridge at various national regattas - most notably annual appearances at HORR and Metropolitan Regatta (Met). We regularly feature in the top 100 at HORR and in 2024 reached the B final of Met as the third fastest academic eight.
